Only 21 years after Gustav II Adolf founded the city of Gothenburg, he began the construction of Kronhuset. This historic structure stands as one of the city's oldest buildings, dating back to the mid-17th century. Originally designed as a storage facility for military uniforms and equipment, Kronhuset now serves as a concert venue and crafts centre. Situated behind Gustav Adolf Square, it also features charming small shops and a delightful café for visitors to enjoy.

Moored in San Pedro, the Battleship USS Iowa Museum lets you wander through one of the most magnificent and surprisingly personal pieces of U.S. naval history. Known as the “Battleship of Presidents,” the Iowa once carried FDR across the Atlantic and later served through WWII, Korea, and the Cold War. As you move through the ship’s narrow corridors and out onto the decks, you get a real sense of what life was like for the crew: giant gun turrets towering overhead, cramped bunks stacked in rows, and glimpses of the command centers that once buzzed with activity. Veteran volunteers are often on hand to share stories or point out easy-to-miss details.

Dive into the rich history of New Smyrna Beach at the engaging New Smyrna Museum of History. It highlights the town’s founding by an intrepid group of Mediterranean colonists under the leadership of Dr. Andrew Turnbull, a Scottish physician and diplomat. Exhibits in the Interior Gallery provide a chronological journey through the area’s past, offering insights into its cultural and historical development. Don’t miss the upstairs exhibit, featuring early St. John’s pottery, projectile points, and other fascinating artifacts collected by local historian Zelia Wilson Sweett.
