If you have time to spare at the port before embarking on your cruise ship, you can take a walk around Basseterre's city centre. Some of the must-see monuments in the city are the Immaculate Conception Co-Cathedral Catholic Church, Independence Square and The Circus. You can even walk to the nearest beaches like Half Moon Bay which is 3.3 miles away. Just make sure you have enough time as the walk is about an hour long. South and North Frigate Bay beaches are not far away either and it takes about the same time to get there on foot.

Lake McKenzie on Fraser Island is probably the most well-known freshwater lake in Australia. Located 100 metres above the sea level, it is classified as a 'perched lake', which means that all of the crystal-clear water comes from the rain. High levels of acidity in the lake and the fact that all nutrients have been washed out of the shimmering white silica sand make the water unsuitable for nearly all forms of plant and fish life. It is likely the purest water you'll ever dip your toes in. The Aboriginal name for the lake is Boorangoora, which means 'waters of wisdom'. It was and still is known as a place for decision-making.

Carnival on Madeira is a raucous celebration — one of the best in Europe. It is an annual festival held forty days before Easter, with activities ranging from Samba groups to electrifying street parades and costume competitions– it's easy to get swept up in the song and dance all across the island.

Half-way between Hammamet and Nabeul lies the Flipper Aquapark, a water entertainment center with rides for the whole family. There are several open and tube slides for the grown-ups and a separate are with miniature rides and shallow pools for the younger visitors.
