This stunning, white-limestone church was constructed between 1087 and 1197 and has always held the remains of San Nicola (who is also known as Santa Klaus). It is both a Catholic and an Orthodox church and, partly for this reason, it is a place of annual pilgrimage for many people from all over the world.

A centerpiece of Hawaiian culture, Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau is a 180-acre national historic park that once served as home to royal grounds and a sanctuary for ancient Hawaiian lawbreakers. Back in the day, those who broke kapu (or sacred law) were given one chance of redemption: evade pursuers and arrive at a pu’uhonua, or a sacred place of refuge. If successful, there would have been a ceremony of absolution, and the law-breaker would return to society.

Discovery Green is Houston’s go-to urban park for outdoor fun, events, and community gatherings. Located in the heart of downtown, it features open lawns, a lake for kayaking, public art installations, and a playground for kids. Throughout the year, the park hosts everything from live concerts and fitness classes to outdoor movie nights and seasonal ice skating.
