Until the 16th century, Colmcille's monastery defined the island. In Toraigh, the most remote of all the inhabited Irish isles, tradition and high spirits abound. A Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking region), this island is fiercely proud of its folklore, music and dance. A haven for artists, the beauty of this small island has inspired the imagination for generations. Other landmarks of note include the Lighthouse, the Wishing Stone, and Balor's Fort. An interesting fact is that this island traditionally elects its own king - the only place in Ireland to do so.

Northern Dalarna boasts 560 kilometers of well-prepared cross-country ski tracks waiting to take you on new adventures. The trails are divided among 19 different track centers, with at least one near each of our four main localities: Grövelsjön, Idre, Särna and Älvdalen. There are plenty of illuminated ski tracks for evening tours in the winter darkness.

A private mansion with a nice garden turned into a museum, a place where you can admire works from Turkish artists created between 1850 and 1950. There are also excellent collection of calligraphy, religious and state documents, classical Turkish furniture and well as paintings of the Ottoman era. The museum is beautifully located on a hilltop, overlooking the Bosphorus.

One of Barcelona's most beautiful churches is probably the best existing example of Catalonian Gothic, with a cleaner style than what is normally associated with Gothic architecture. Construction of the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar began in 1329 and finished in 1383, a record time considering this type of construction. The church has an incredible feeling of spaciousness and weightlessness emphasized by slender pillars and very sparsely decorated chapels. Three naves of the same height, supported by very tall pillars, are the main features of the structure. The splendid rose window on the main façade allows for the illumination of the church together with the beautiful stained glass windows.
