Gornji Grad is the upper town area of Zagreb. The main attraction here is the Stone Gate, an old entrance point to the city, now holding a shrine with a 16th-century statue of the Virgin Mary in a grille-covered niche. Many visitors come here to say a prayer or to light a votive candle.

This masterpiece of Italian Gothic architecture is most famous for what it’s missing—a roof. The abbey was built in the late 1100s and has been a dramatic-looking ruin for centuries. It’s open to the sky now, but still feels grand in a stripped-back kind of way. Just up the hill, the Rotonda di Montesiepi is worth a quick stop too—inside you’ll find a sword embedded in stone, tied to the story of Saint Galgano.

Get close to wildlife, and enjoy a great activity for the whole family. Get on the safari carriage on a guided tour, and see the symbol of the province of Åland, the red deer, known as the prototype of Disney’s Bambi. Fallow deer, wild boars, ostriches, and - since recently - lamas also live on the grounds. Best time to visit is in spring, when the deer get their spotted calves and the wild boars get their lovely striped piglets.

Petit Cul-de-Sac offers a secluded coastal experience along St Barts' northeastern shore, protected between two peninsulas. Unlike more developed beaches, this spot maintains an undeveloped shoreline with calm waters suitable for swimming and snorkelling, where sea turtle sightings are common. The beach's location — west of Grand Cul-de-Sac and southwest of Petit Étang lagoon — remains deliberately unmarked, contributing to its “hidden gem” status. Visitors typically arrive via a left turn past the salt pond when approaching from Toiny. This wild beach offers no commercial facilities, so make sure to pack some water and a picnic basket.
