Bedekovčina lakes were created in the period from 1937 to 1950, due to excavation for the needs of the brick industry. These are closed water systems, but connected to each other.

Each plant is systematically labelled, and the garden features a variety of areas including a peaceful Japanese Garden, a European garden, a Rock garden, and a Glasshouse.
