The Mole Vanvitelliana was built in 1732 as a shelter, today it is the heart of the city as far as art and culture are concerned. During summer months, it hosts live performances in form of theatre, ballet and concerts.

St. Mary's Church of Our Lady of Mercy is located on the small island of Prvić and is dedicated to the Merciful Mother. It is known when the works of the monastery started (1461), but it's still unclear when they finished. The monastery was reconstructed many times and completely renovated after the big fire in 1884. If you're planning to pay a visit to the church, know that the island can be reached by ferry from Vodice or from Šibenik.

Each year the Yi Peng tradition turns the city of Chiang Mai into a sea of floating lights. Hundreds of paper lanterns are sent to the sky in order to celebrate Buddha and to bring luck and happiness to the people. You shouldn't miss out on this spectacular event which usually takes place on the full moon of the 12th month of the Thai lunar calendar (usually in November).
