Starting as a small community theater in the late 1970s, American Stage has evolved and for over a decade has been voted “Best of the Bay” by local residents. If in the area during March — April, a treat is one of the performances in a nearby park, often a play by Shakespeare. Bring your blankets and wine to enjoy theater outside among the trees.

Watch these majestic creatures swim and play in the waters along the NSW South Coast during their annual migration between May and November. Whale numbers have risen substantially around Jervis Bay in recent years, making the area are great place to watch these graceful mammals from shore or the deck of a tour boat. The viewing platform in Booderee National Park, located at Cape St George Lighthouse, is a splendid observation point. Perpendicular Lighthouse, at the southern end of the Beecroft Peninsula in the Jervis Bay Military Reserve, also offers a good vantage point.

The Botanical Garden of the University of Zürich shows off its broad collection of flora, both local and imported, on the 5.6 hectares that were laid out in the 1970s. Even when it's raining or when it's cold, you can visit the tropical greenhouses. Each glass bubble represents distinct climate: the sweltering humidity of the tropics, the dry heat of the Mediterranean, and the flowering alpine meadows.
