Located along the Cascade Mountains, the Deschutes National Forest provides stunning natural beauty, especially around the Jack Lake campground, where the Three Sisters and Jefferson mountains create a breathtaking backdrop. It covers nearly 1.6 million acres and offers year-round recreation, making it one of the most popular forests in the Pacific Northwest.

Adjacent to the Natural History Museum, Toulon’s botanical garden features rare and exotic plants alongside fossil displays. Established in the 19th century by local sailors, the garden showcases species from the Orient, Oceania, and America, set alongside the Las river. A serene meadow, dominated by a towering cedar tree, adds to the tranquil atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll, particularly in spring and summer.

Damnoen Saduak is Thailand’s most famous floating market, about 80 km southwest of Bangkok. Vendors in wooden boats sell fruit, snacks, and noodles along the canal, while stalls on the banks push souvenirs and crafts. It’s lively, colourful, and very touristy, but it’s still a classic day trip. Most people go with an organised tour, though you can also catch a bus from the Southern Bus Terminal and hire a boat on arrival. Go early in the morning to avoid the thickest crowds and heat.

Amman's Children's Museum is surprisingly delightful. There are plenty of interactive exhibits allowing the young ones to get a hands-on approach to learning about the world, from the inner workings of the human digestive system to the mechanics of a car. Adults will enjoy continuing on to the Royal Automobile Museum next door.
