Declared by Unesco as “World Heritage Site”, the town of Portobelo is known as a “historic monument collection” since you can visit several sites in the same place. Many of the fortresses, castles and buildings have been preserved almost intact along the years: examples are Fort Santiago, San Jeronimo, San Fernando, the Customs and Controller’s building, and the San Juan de Dios Church famous for the Black Christ. During the sixteenth and seventeenth century, Portobelo became one of the most important silver-exporter ports of Nueva Grenada, the Spanish Colonial Jurisdiction which included today's Colombia, Panama, Ecuador and Venezuela. Portobelo also became one of the most important departure points from the “Indies”. For the same reason, this town was subject to many pirate attacks from Francis Drake, William Parker, William Hiking, Henry Morgan, Edward Vernon, and William Kingles. This coastal town is famous for serving excellent seafood and it is close to other great Caribbean destinations.

A sweeping portion of the Split peninsula is covered by a thick Mediterranean flora that creates the Marjan Forest Park. An intricate knot of walking paths, jogging trails, lookout points, and a botanical garden that attracts hiking enthusiasts and everyone who wants a break from the busy city life.

Lakes Västersjön and Rössjön, separated by a thin strip of land, offer some of the most beautiful scenery on the Hallandsåsen ridge. You can swim and fish in Västersjön, while Rössjön is a bird sanctuary. On the hillsides north of Rössjön, there are several deep ravines worth exploring. The most famous one is Trollehallar, with its 35-metre-high steep walls.

The Yuejiang Tower in Nanjing boasts a unique history, having achieved fame centuries before its actual construction. In 1374, the first Emperor of the Ming Dynasty envisioned a tower by the Yangtze River, naming it Yuejiang (literally meaning "overlooking the river"). He commissioned authors across the country to write articles praising the magnificent tower, even though it was not yet built. One of these articles became a classic, but the tower's construction was not started until 2000. The reputation of the Yuejiang Tower preceded its actual existence by 650 years.
