This popular surfing beach stretches for 3km along the Highway 1, and it's one of the best spots to enjoy the sunset while sipping a chilled cocktail. For safety reasons, swimming isn't recommended.

The Wahiba Sands is a desert of golden dunes stretching as far as the eye can see. Although it lies around 230 kilometres from Muscat, it’s easily reachable, either by driving or, preferably, through a guided tour. Joining a tour is the best option if you want to make the most of your visit and experience the desert safely. The journey takes about two and a half to three hours by car. If you decide to drive yourself, make sure to carry plenty of food and water, and follow all safety recommendations, especially avoiding venturing off-road without proper experience. Keep in mind that April to October are the hottest months in Oman, which can make exploring the desert more challenging. Most travel companies organise overnight stays in desert camps, though day trips are also possible. For a truly memorable experience, it’s worth spending at least one night under the desert sky. Watching the sunset, stargazing, and waking up to a desert sunrise are moments you won’t forget. You can also enjoy activities such as climbing the dunes, camel rides, or dune bashing.

An Art Deco masterpiece in Detroit’s financial district, the Guardian Building is a must-see for architecture enthusiasts. Completed in 1929, this skyscraper is celebrated for its vibrant interior featuring intricate tilework, bold geometric patterns, and a stunning vaulted ceiling. Nicknamed the “Cathedral of Finance,” it’s a testament to Detroit’s golden age. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1989, the Guardian Building has adorned the city’s skyline for nearly a century. While visitors can’t climb to the top, the lobby and mezzanine offer incredible views of the craftsmanship.

Perhaps the hippest neighbourhood in Taipei, Ximending (or Shi-men Ting) is a pedestrian-only area that truly comes to life after sundown. Loud music plays and bright shopfront lights flicker, enticing local youths and tourists with their offerings, some beyond wacky: maid cafes, knife massage, curious bubble tea concoctions, KTV booths, and more – all this along with a few very well preserved historic buildings, such as the Red House. It's a great place to experience the dynamic, young side of Taipei.
