Windhoek's German-built train station contains a curious museum of old railway memorabilia and antiquated equipment, and still sports Fraktur typefaces on in- and outdoor signs. Original 19th century locomotives are displayed just outside the station.

A stone's throw from Windhoek's Christuskirche is the city's liveliest city park, attracting picnickers and lunch breakers from the surrounding offices. Although no animals have called the park home for decades, it retains its original name from when it served as a public zoo. An elephant column serves as a reminder of the location's past, when it was used as elephant hunting grounds nearly 5 millennia ago.

Approximately a two-hour drive from the coast and just an hour from the Saudi-Jordan border, Tabuk City is a developing town with a relaxed, rural atmosphere. Hala Sultan Tekke, situated on the west bank of the Larnaca Salt Lake, about 6 kilometres southwest of Larnaca, is a mosque and tekke complex that holds significant importance in Islam. The mosque was built just before 1787, and its current structure was completed in 1816. The complex is set amidst a beautiful garden and stands as a symbol of tranquillity. Ranked as the fourth most important holy place of worship in the religion, the mosque is built over the tomb of Umm Haram, the foster-mother of the Prophet Mohammed and wife of Ubada bin al-Samit, a high-ranking officer who led raids against Cyprus in the 7th century. While visiting the mosque, take the opportunity to explore the picturesque Larnaca Salt Lake, located just a short five-minute walk away.
