The memorial sits on the Minsk-Moscow highway, a 30 minute car ride from Minsk. The monument itself was built in 1969, 25 years after the liberation of Belarus from the Germans, to honour the soldiers that fought against the Nazis in World War II and those who lost their lives. The view from the top of the hill makes the climb worthwhile.

Linköping’s cathedral is Sweden’s best preserved medieval cathedral. There is much to discover here, the Gothic blind arcades with their remarkable stone figures, the glass sculpture Golgotha and Maria, which spreads its wonderful cloak of flowers out over us from one of the windows. Church of St. Francis of Assisi dates back to the 13th-century and boasts a beautiful 14th-century cloister. The church also contains the remains of medieval frescoes.

One thing is very clear on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road: "the journey is the reward". It is not about arriving at the top, it's about experiencing the pass road with all its views, places for a stop, display boards and information points. Various huts and restaurants along the road are waiting for your visit. At the Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Höhe you have a unique view, which is dominated by the Grossglockner and the Pasterze, Austria's largest glacier. The hiking trails into the Gamsgrube amidst the special conservation area of the High Tauern National Park affords unique views and sightings of rare alpine animals, such as the majestic ibex and marmots.
