Lake Retba, affectionately known as "Lac Rose" by locals, boasts a striking pink hue thanks to its high concentration of Dunaliella salina algae. This rare natural phenomenon is particularly vivid during the dry season (from late January to early March) and under bright sunlight. The salinity in this sweet-looking lake can be as high as 40% in some areas.

First held in 1991, the Qingdao International Beer Festival has grown into Asia’s largest beer event. Every August, starting on the second Sunday of the month, the festival kicks off and runs for 16 days in the city’s Shilaoren National Tourism Resort. Pickerel Creek Wildlife Area provides a haven for a variety of waterfowl species amidst its pristine wetland habitat. Abundant species include mallards, wood ducks, black ducks, blue-winged teals, and green-winged teals. Wigeons, pintails, gadwalls, and shovelers also frequent the area, along with Canada geese. Birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts will appreciate the opportunity to observe these diverse species in their natural habitat.
