Sulgrave Manor houses a wonderful collection of furniture and fabrics from the 16th century. It is a Tudor and Georgian manor house that once was the home of George Washington’s direct ancestors. Lawrence Washington, who bought the house in 1539 was a successful Northampton Wool Merchant. There is also a lovely garden, designed in the 1920s by Sir Reginald Blomfield and it still remains as a fine example of the formal English Style. Guided tours are provided of the house.

A real hidden paradise easily reached with a few minutes walk from Mondello, Capo Gallo is a regional nature reserve encompassing the huge Mount Gallo, ending up in a rocky promontory towered by a lighthouse, some grottos, and hidden sandy beaches surrounded by wild vegetation. Among its inhabitants are falcons, buzzards, and owls, while the reserve beckons adventurers with opportunities for snorkelling, kayaking, and hiking adventures.

The Peel Mansion Museum & Heritage Gardens, built in 1875 by Colonel Samuel West Peel, is a stunning example of Italianate Villa architecture. Carefully restored and furnished with authentic 19th-century antiques — many on loan from the Historic Arkansas Museum and the Old State House — the mansion offers a glimpse into life during that era. Beyond the historic home, the experience continues in the surrounding botanical gardens. Stroll through seven Victorian-inspired gardens, each showcasing seasonal blooms and adding to the property’s timeless charm.
