On Mount Zapateira lies the ancient hill fort of Castro de Elvina. Consisting of three concentric walled enclosures, there are two parts to this settlement: one from the Bronze Age Celtic (Castro) period and one from the Roman. Visit to discover a typical Iberian ruin away from the crowds.

VIDA Museum & Art Gallery, situated along Route 136, 9 kilometres south of Borgholm on Öland, is built on a spot of breathtaking coastal beauty, perched at the top of a slope overlooking the Kalmarsund. During the 9th century this was the largest church in Spain and although now dwarfed by later and greater buildings, it remains of great significance in the history of Spanish religious architecture. The church is well worth a visit, especially for its magnificent array of gorgeously coloured murals.
