The Amricani Cultural Centre – House of Islamic Antiquities is a significant cultural institution housed within a historic former American Mission Hospital. The complex itself, with its graceful, rehabilitated buildings, is a landmark. It serves as the headquarters for the Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah organisation, showcasing selections from the prestigious Al-Sabah Collection, a private assembly of over 20,000 Islamic art objects. The centre functions as a vibrant cultural hub, combining exhibition spaces with a conservation lab, library and theatre, making it a cornerstone for both preserving and presenting Islamic artistic heritage.

The huge 326 acre Common park, just a short walk from the city centre, is a haven for flora and fauna and has been designated as UNESCO site of special scientific interest. The Hawthorns Urban Wildlife Centre gives visitors the opportunity to learn about the local ecology and wildlife.

To find refuge from tourist masses, head to this beautiful, secluded beach in the island's very south. Reaching the place will take around 30 minutes by car, and some patience if you're driving your own vehicle — signage isn't too clear. However, it's worth the exploration: locals love Baby Beach because it's calm and less crowded. Its waters are clean and good for swimming, and the local fauna is beautiful, featuring gorgeous tropical fish and sea turtles.

The Sadu House is a cultural centre that showcases the Bedouin art of weaving, along with a few other elements of the Bedouin lifestyle and culture. The museum offers unique insight into the process of weaving and houses a gift shop with unique, hand-made items.
