The Bremer Philharmoniker orchestra is one of the oldest orchestras in the world, with 200 years of existence. Its deep-rooted traditions and the variety of its artistic programmes make it an essential part of the culture in North West Germany. The orchestra has a wide repertoire that includes opera, chamber music and philharmonic concerts. Located on the Weserpromenade, the Stadtgarten Vegesack was created as a botanic garden meant to showcase a collection of rare and exotic plants. Today, this park is also a popular place for sports, picnics or leisurely walks by the Weser river. There are two barrier-free entrances, one from the Vegesack ferry terminal and the other from Schulkenstraße street.
