Corinna is a Wilderness Experience that offers a rare opportunity to discover Tasmania’s remote west coast. This former gold-mining town is the southern gateway to the globally significant Tarkine forest. Recently transformed into a tourism experience, Corinna offers visitors access to rich pioneering and natural history. Set in pristine temperate rainforest, Corinna provides cottage accommodation, a stately guesthouse and the Tarkine Hotel and Tannin Restaurant, serving regional produce onsite.

There are several wineries in Calaveras County and in Northern California, many of them located just off of Scenic State Highway 4. Wine tasting tours are available. Excitation awaits your palate at the Foothills, where wine is always in season.

With a history dating back to 2000 BC, Turtle Mound now represents the Timucuan Indian civilization, who created Turtle Mound over a period of several hundred years. The site is a kitchen midden composed of oyster and shellfish remains, and it can be seen 7 miles out at sea. Turtle Mound stands 50 feet tall and covers 2 acres.

This beautiful example of Spanish colonial architecture contains a small museum dedicated to the Spanish Inquisition's brutal persecution of heretics once carried out in these very chambers. Visitors can still see some of the torture devices used to extract confessions of heresy and witchcraft, along with some of the questions used in "witch" interrogations, which are still displayed on the museum wall. Needless to say, no prisoner could hope to be acquitted of their purported crimes against the Catholic Church, and most met their tragic end at the very guillotine still on display in the courtyard.
