Tomaree National Park provides a stunning backdrop to the coastal towns of Port Stephens. It’s the only place in NSW where you can see rhyodacite outcrops, a rare volcanic rock. The park's rugged bush coastline is perfect for walkers, with the Wreck Beach trail offering a scenic route through angophora forest. It's also great for whale watching and exploring the historic gun emplacements at Fort Tomaree. Don’t forget your fishing rod — the waters here are teeming with fish.

Teide National Park, a World Heritage Site with over three million visitors a year, is the best place to see volcanic phenomena in Tenerife. You’ll be astounded by the colours and the wild force of this surreal landscape, overlooked by Spain’s highest peak at 3,718 metres. It is home to many local species of flora and fauna, such as the Teide violet or the Tenerife bugloss, whose bright colours stand in stark contrast to the thousands of tonnes of ochre running through this unique landscape.

Visit the Ålandstravet tortting track in Mariehamn. Catch the action at warm up and feel the excitement at the start of an exhilarating race. Trotting competitions are organised monthly from spring to autumn. In addition there is a large number of jumping, dressage, and Iceland horse competitions on Åland.

Åland has a shoreline numbering an incredible 17,000 km. Beaches lie in all directions. The mildness of the maritime climate and the contrast between calm bays and strong winds creating powerful waves outside the islands mean ideal kite surfing conditions. According to the local kite surfing professional, Patrik Larsson, Åland boasts at least 150 days of good surfing conditions annually. In the summer it's best done on the waves, and in winter in open water further away from the shores. Kite surfing is popular on Åland.
