The northern town of Kelibia is a good vantage point for a clear sunny day - if you're in luck, you may even be able to see as far the coast of Sicily. Other than its hilltop fort, the town is known for its beaches, which are claimed by some to be some of the best in the Mediterranean.

The ruins of Kerkouane are a rare vestige of a civilization long-gone. The area was once inhabited by Phoenicians (who lived off fishing and manufacturing colored dye - particularly a purple shade produced from shellfish), but fell victim to the Romans during the Third Punic War. Some traces of its former glory still remain today.

Dickenson Bay on the northwestern coast of Antigua features one of the most developed beaches on the island with various hotels and restaurants. Its waters are shallow and peaceful, ideal for families with children. One minor downside of Dickenson Bay comes from its level of development. When cruise ships arrive at the bay, the area becomes quite a busy place. This might not be your beach of choice if quiet is what you're looking for, but if you're up for socialising all day long — be sure to stop by.

Once a federal prison housing dangerous and notorious criminals, Alcatraz (The Rock) now welcomes tourists into the cell blocks once occupied by the likes of Al Capone, Machine Gun Kelley, and the Birdman of Alcatraz. Self-guided audio tours have dramatic narratives of Alcatraz’s grim history, including realistic sound effects one would hear in prison. Apart from the prison complex itself, Alcatraz Island essentially operates as a national park. You can spend a full day hiking, taking in the view from multiple observation points and appreciating the natural beauty.
