This celebration of the foundation of the independent Czechoslovakian state is a opportunity to visit many sights in the city either free of charge or for advantageous entrance fees, and the firework in the evening is an all time favourite. Built by Ashkenazi Jews in the 16th century, the synagogue has been destroyed and banned several times; for Jewish people it's a symbol of their tormented history.
