Gamla Uppsala (Old Uppsala) is one of Scandinavia's most noteworthy areas with ancient remains. It is the site of three majestic royal mounds from the 6th century, one of Scandinavia's largest burial areas and ruins of a cathedral built in the 12th century. The area is surrounded by myths, with legends of ruthless power struggles between the Svea kings, as well as the golden heathen temples, human sacrifices and ancient Nordic blood sacrifices. Today, Gamla Uppsala is a popular excursion spot. You can also visit Gamla Uppsala Museum, Odinsborg restaurant and the open-air museum, Disagården.

A wall-tattoo on Herrengasse street? Sure! On the façade of the Herzoghof building in the centre of Graz, Greek and Roman Gods engage in a rendez-vous. The building was first painted as early as 1600. The Baroque painter Johann Mayer applied the ‘divine’ frescos in 1742, since which time it has been known as the ‘painted house’. If you take a moment to immerse yourself in the images, you enjoy an intense sense of submersion right there in the middle of the urban hustle and bustle.

Parco del Valentino is a big public park right in the city centre, next to the river Po. Colourful flower beds, a small stream with wooden bridges and monumental fountains create a peaceful oasis amid the city. During spring and summer, you can chill all day long and well into the evening. The stately Castello del Valentino is the focal point of the park. Within the park, you'll find Borgo Medievale — an open-air museum and reconstructed medieval village and castle. A vibrant gathering point, Place de Jaude is set in the middle of the city. The square features an imposing statue of Vercingetorix, the Gaul hero who stopped Julius Caesar, sitting imperiously on a horse and holding a glaive, and is home to some of the most iconic monuments of Clermont-Ferrand, such as the Opera Theatre.
