Suspended above the suburbs of Christchurch, the Gondola whisks you nearly a kilometre to the Crater Rim of the Port Hills. The two-week long Ati-atihan festival takes place the third Sunday of January each year. People throughout the Philippines wear elaborate fancy dress costumes and make-up. They party with music, dances and carnivals. The religious festival is held in a nearby municipality and is in honour of the Holy Infant Jesus, a patron saint of the Cebu region.

This archaeological site (the local name Jardin des Vestiges) was discovered as constructions of a shopping centre commenced here in 1967. The garden contains an interesting mix of Greek and Roman remains. The majority of its finds are ruins of the old port.
