Once overgrown with apple trees, Slide Rock State Park is nowadays a major destination for hiking and swimming in the natural water slide that gives the name to the park. Nonetheless, in Slide Rock you can also witness remains of the early agricultural development of Central Arizona.

Known locally by its acronym Müpa, the Palace of Arts (Művészetek Palotája) is a striking complex by the Danube created for the new millennium. It consists of the Bartók National Concert Hall, the Festival Theatre and the Ludwig Museum. The Bartók National Concert Hall is known for its outstanding acoustics created by Russell Johnson, who worked with some of the world’s most renowned architects. This is also the home of the prestigious Hungarian National Philharmonic, founded in 1923. The Ludwig Museum's exhibition space displays artwork by modern and contemporary artists, and it is open all year round.

Akaka Falls State Park is nestled along the northeastern Hamakua Coast. The two mellifluous waterfalls are seen on only one short hike. A pleasant half a mile trek will take you through a lush rainforest of wild orchids, bamboo groves and coquettish ferns. You'll pinch yourself to find this is all indeed real, especially with the 100-foot Kahuna Falls and the towering Akaka Falls, which plummet down 442 feet.

In La Rochelle you can find one of the largest European aquariums, featuring some 10,000 creatures from the Atlantic, the Mediterranean and even the Tropics! La Rochelle Aquarium is also a centre for the protection of marine species and also a centre for marine studies.
