One of Germany’s oldest zoos, and still a popular spot, especially if you're travelling with kids. It’s got a good mix of animals, from elephants and hippos to penguins and baboons. There’s a rainforest house and aquarium on site too. Feeding times are worth catching if you're around—check the schedule when you arrive.

This 14th-century church, known as Santuario della Madonna della Misericordia in Italian, is renowned for the portrait of Madonna della Misericordia, painted by the artist Giuseppe Soleri in the 18th–19th century. Located near the Augustus Arch, this sanctuary was originally constructed by Clarisse nuns. Throughout its history, this church has been a site of continuous pilgrimages and a place of profound prayer. It is said that the miraculous image of Madonna della Misericordia moved its eyes in 1850, adding to its mystique. As a result, the 12th of every month holds special significance as a day to commemorate this miraculous event.

Located in piazza Cavour, the famous fountain La Fontana Della Pigna was built in 1543 by Giovanni da Carrara, although in part it dates back to the Roman period. The fountain is of great significance as it served as the sole source of drinking water in the city until the public aqueduct was established in 1912. Additionally, there is an inscription on the fountain referring to Leonardo da Vinci's delight upon seeing this fountain.
