Hannover Arts Association annually stages numerous national and international exhibitions reflecting important developments and schools of contemporary art. Founded in 1832 already, with the aim of spreading the sense for Fine Arts, it today has more than 1,200 members and an even bigger client base of regulars that come here for experiencing great art and interesting discussions.

Named after Victor Schoelcher, a leader in the fight to free slaves in the Caribbean during the 19th century, this beautiful public library is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Fort-de-France. It was first built in Paris for the 1889 World Exposition, then taken apart and shipped to Martinique to be reassembled as it is seen today.

Located in the Kadhimiya suburb of Baghdad, the Imam al-Kazim and Imam al-Jawad Shrine is one of the most striking religious sites in the city. This important Shi’a mosque houses the tombs of the seventh and ninth Twelver Imams, making it a major pilgrimage site. Non-Muslim visitors are welcome to enter and explore the mosque; however, it's important to be respectful of religious customs and dress modestly. Due to its religious and historical significance, the shrine is heavily guarded and security is strict. You should expect to pass through three security checkpoints: one upon entering the Kadhimiya area, and two more before reaching the mosque itself. Inside, the shrine’s ornate and reflective design creates a serene and reverent atmosphere, heightened by the devotion of the pilgrims in prayer. Photography is generally permitted, but it is advisable to ask staff before taking photos, especially in more sensitive areas.

Built between 1845 and 1852, and rebuilt around 1950 after its destruction during World War II, the State Opera schedules great opera performances while the nearby State Theatre houses all theatre plays. The repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary works and therefore pleases almost every taste and, once in a while, also surprises.
