Despite its name meaning 'New Bridge', Pont Neuf is actually Paris’s oldest bridge over the Seine, dating back to the 16th century. It’s also a great starting point to explore some of the city’s most famous sights. From here, you can easily wander around Île de la Cité to visit the Conciergerie, the old royal palace turned prison, and the stunning Sainte-Chapelle with its incredible stained glass windows. Just across the river lies the Louvre Museum, while a short walk takes you to the peaceful Place Dauphine, a hidden gem of a square. And, of course, the iconic Notre-Dame Cathedral is also close by.

Sitting high up on Mesa Vouno, Ancient Thera has the kind of views that make the hike worth it. The ruins stretch along a ridge above Kamari and Perissa, with bits of Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine history still visible—temples, bathhouses, homes, even an old theatre. You can drive most of the way from Kamari (steep road), or hike up from Perissa if you’re up for a long, hot climb (around 2 hours). Bring water, wear shoes with grip, and go early if you want to avoid the heat.

One of the oldest lighthouses in the world, this 800-year old structure is home to a visitor's centre, a gift shop, as well as various festivals such as the Maritime Matters Festival on the May bank holiday weekend or the Pirate Festival in July.

If you walk through the Port a Mare (Sea Gate) from the harbour you will end up at this oblong, and often very crowded, piazza. It is overseen by the grand, late-medieval Catalan façade of the Palazzo d’Albis.
