The Arbeia Roman Fort and Museum is an impressive reconstructed fortification with a constantly changing offer of exhibitions of jewels, coins, pottery, weapons, armour, and other archaeological finds seven days a week. The fort was first discovered in the late 19th century.

The centrepiece of La Palma's incredible National Park is Caldera de Taburiente, a 10-kilometre wide crater, whose walls tower up to 2,000 metres over the caldera floor. An extended period of erosion caused the soil to sink, creating an enormous pit in place of a once-existing mountain. The park itself contains scenic hiking trails, waterfalls, forests, and is characterised by its breathtaking natural landscapes.

The United States naval base at Pearl Harbor was surprised by a Japanese military strike on the morning of December 7, 1941: all eight U.S. Navy battleships were damaged, more than 2,000 Americans lost their lives, and this very attack led to the American involvement in World War II. Today, a memorial reminds of those who died in the assault, while two museums and outdoor exhibits present the historical happenings and their backgrounds. The visitor centre in general also features exhibits and interpretive programs for other Pacific National Parks: Kalaupapa National Historical Park on the island of Molokai, American Memorial Park in Saipan, and War in the Pacific National Historical Park in Guam.

The zoo in Melbourne is one of the world’s oldest, famous for its large collection of native animals in a spacious bush setting. There are over 2,000 creatures to admire here, and it is located only minutes north from the city centre, making it a great place for the whole family.
