Situated in the oldest part of the city at Ostrów Tumski, the University of Wrocław’s botanical garden has rare plants and shows how they are cultivated. It was established in 1811 as a scientific institution, but is now open to the general public.

Panorama Raclawice is part of the National Museum of Wrocław. This venue displays the great Panorama of the Battle of Raclawice, a 19th-century painting that is the oldest and only example of panorama painting in Poland.

The best-known and tallest building in the city, the Palace of Culture and Science, was a gift (as well as a display of strength) from the Soviet people to the Poles. Visible from almost any place in Warsaw, the palace is to Warsaw what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris — the perfect landmark. Take the lift up to the 30th floor to see the city panorama from a height of 114 metres. The palace also houses theatres, a cinema, museums, and trendy bistros, as well as the city’s main tourist information point.

The National Museum of Nature and Science offers a comprehensive journey through Japan’s natural history and scientific development. Its collections span from pre-Meiji scientific instruments to modern technology, including a real rocket launcher and a digital seismograph tracking earthquakes in real time. The museum is famous for its lifelike dinosaur exhibitions, a major draw for younger visitors, and houses the taxidermied figures of the loyal dog Hachikō and the Antarctic sled dogs Taro and Jiro. The Japan Gallery explores the archipelago's diverse ecosystems, featuring wildlife from Hokkaidō bears to Okinawan giant beetles. Other notable exhibits include an Edo-period mummy and an immersive 360-degree theatre.
