Explore the history of one of the British Army’s most celebrated regiments, the Gordon Highlanders Infantry, which was raised in the late 18th century. The museum features the finest of the regiment’s treasures, special exhibitions and the chance for children to dress up in a Gordon Highlanders uniform. The museum is surrounded by a beautiful and tranquil park, open to visitors and also hosts a shop and a tea room.

These fabulous mountains of West MacDonnell Ranges stretch for 644 kilometres east and west of Alice, with numerous water holes, beautiful gorges, historic sites and Aboriginal rock art as well as plenty of walking trails, wildlife and good bush camping. Some places are within a reach of 10-20 kilometres from town, so head here and enjoy its rich atmosphere. There are countless walking tracks ranging, mapped out for leisurely hikes to daring multi-day adventures. The 223-kilometre Larapinta Trail stretches through the park and offers extended and overnight bushwalks.

This red brick building with its characteristic octagonal dome is beautifully lit after dark. It has been destroyed several times over the years and restored time and again to its former glory. The building is today listed as one of the National Important Cultural Properties, and a symbol of the city itself.

The 35-metre tall Clock Tower is a symbol of Tirana, built in 1822 by the poet and architect Et'hem bey Mollaj, who also completed the nearby Et'hem Bey Mosque. You can climb the 90 spiralling steps for an excellent view of the bustling life in Skanderbeg Square below. At night, the tower is beautifully lit, making it a striking feature in the city’s skyline.
