Situated on the southern tip of Florida, the Everglades is a vast wetland preserve spanning 1.5 million acres. It is the only subtropical wetland in North America and the only place in the world where alligators and crocodiles live side by side. This expansive ecosystem is home to many endangered species, including the leatherback turtle, Florida panther, and West Indian manatee. As there is no public transportation to the park, renting a car or joining an organized boat or bus tour is the best way to get to this wildlife experience.

This 20th Century palace was built by the Pasha of Casablanca, and it is both a great example of Moroccan architecture and a popular movie setting that also hosts music festivals. Although the palace is not open to the public, its great décor and outside appearance are well worth a visit.

Adventure Island is a water park that borders Busch Gardens in Tampa. With over 30 acres of water-related activities including water slides, corkscrew slides, a rambling river, and a giant wave pool, Adventure Island has something for everyone, including cabanas to just lounge around in the sun.

Tampa Bay Downs is the only thoroughbred racetrack on the west coast of Florida with a rich history dating back to 1926. The track is known as one of the most popular turf tracks in the U.S. In addition to the racing, Tampa Bay Downs is also home to the Silks Poker Room, as well as a full golf practice facility. While simulcast racing is offered year-round, the season for live racing spans December through early May.
