Chengene Skele, a historic fishing village established in 1784, lies 15 kilometres south of Burgas and remains a hub for traditional fishing practices. Relocated in the 1970s due to the expansion of Burgas Port, the village now thrives as a cultural and tourist destination. Visitors can explore exhibitions on Black Sea fishing traditions, enjoy fresh seafood dishes like baked carp and “ribena chorba” fish soup, and take boat trips from the nearby dock. The village also features a multifunctional building, amphitheatre, and a small beach, making it a year-round attraction.

Inspired by the architecture of the Cathedral of Seville, the Metropol Parasol claims to be the largest wooden structure in the world. The spot chosen for the construction of this futuristic marvel turned out to contain ancient ruins of the Roman and Al-Andalus era, which were discovered during construction works for underground parking (learn more at the on-site archaeological museum). One of Germany's most beautiful hiking trails runs along the banks of the Elbe to Blankenese. The former fishing village is now a prosperous suburb to the west of Hamburg, located right on the Elbe. Picturesque lanes, winding stairs and houses standing close together: with its Mediterranean feel, the Blankenese Treppenviertel is reminiscent of a resort on the Riviera. Blankeneser Bahnhofstraße is like a small city in itself, with its church, weekly market, many well-stocked shops, restaurants and ice cream parlours.

Cala Comte is on the west coast and has a mix of small coves, clear turquoise water, and rocky outcrops—great for swimming or snorkelling. There are a couple of beach bars with decent food and music. The vibe is relaxed, but you’ll still find plenty of energy around.
