Hong Kong's largest ever restoration project is an arts and entertainment complex occupying the colonial-era police station and its adjacent buildings, such as a former jail, where today's visitors head of their own volition. The Tai Kwun Contemporary located on its grounds is estimated to host up to 8 art exhibitions every year, plus music and cultural events (such as theatrical performances, workshops, and more) are being scheduled continuously — check their website to see what's on. Known as the Temple of the Green Dragon, Japanese monks came to study Buddhism in the 9th century and left a legacy here. The annual cherry blossom festival is held here in March and April, basking the surroundings in a mesmerising sea of soft pink flowers.

Located between Punta Rasa and Punta Caimanera, this tiny beach is a great place to get away from it all, precisely because it is so small. Besides being cosy, the Playa Las Conchas is also incredibly scenic and rarely crowded. Very nearby is the Talasotherapy Centre, where you can get all kinds of spa treatments to improve your health.

Perched atop a hill overlooking the city, the magnificent medieval fortress provides a glimpse into the past through its reconstructed castle spaces, including a museum collection of Slovene history, various art exhibitions, a coffee shop, and two superb restaurants. The lookout tower offers a breathtaking panorama of Ljubljana. The castle can be reached by funicular or by tourist train during the warmer months.
