Ses Salines is a long stretch of white sand backed by pine trees and part of a natural park. It’s popular with a younger crowd and has a few beach bars that crank up the music in the afternoons. One end tends to attract nudists, but the vibe overall is relaxed and open.

The Roman city of Emona (1st to 5th century) comprised a large portion of the present-day centre of Ljubljana. Today, enthusiasts can visit the well-preserved section of the southern city wall and two archaeological parks. Items from the Roman era are also exhibited at the City Museum of Ljubljana and the National Museum of Slovenia.

Located in the heart of the city in a renovated building, the Casino de Pau has much to offer if you feel like gambling tonight. Onsite you will find restaurants and bars, and a lot of entertainment opportunities throughout the year.

Not to be mistaken with the larger lake of the same name on the River Shannon, Lough Derg in Co. Donegal is a renowned place of pilgrimage. A traditional three-day pilgrimage takes place each August, but the Lough is open to visitors (including anglers!) year-round. The Lough is composed of over 30 islands and inlets, the most famous of which is Station Island - it is said that when St. Patrick traversed Ireland converting kings to Christianity, Jesus appeared to him here and revealed the entrance to Purgatory! The Lough's name comes from the Irish word "dearg" (red) as a local legend holds that a local mortal once called the magic powers of the lake to transform a worm into a vicious cow. Once defeated, the red blood of the cow changed the colour of the rocks (which are in fact sandstone) to red.
