Perhaps the city's most beautiful and ornate church, the Gothic temple Iglesia de San Pedro dates back to the 14th and 15th centuries and boasts several gorgeous doors, gates and chapels that showcase masterful craftsmanship.

The Kunstmuseum Stuttgart is hard to miss—by day, it’s a sleek glass cube reflecting the city; by night, its illuminated limestone core glows from within. The museum holds around 5,000 square metres of exhibition space, much of it tucked beneath the square in repurposed tunnels. It’s home to the world’s largest collection of works by Otto Dix, including his famous triptych Großstadt. The collection also includes pieces by Adolf Hölzel, Willi Baumeister, and other key figures in modern and contemporary German art.

The Linnaeus Garden is a lush oasis with a beautiful orangery, right in the centre of Uppsala, where you can find over 1,000 species arranged according to Linnaeus’ ‘Systema Naturæ’. Wander amongst the plants and enjoy the profusion of flowers whilst relaxing with a coffee or some lunch in the restaurant and café. The garden is also home to Linnaeus’ residence, which now features a museum where you can learn more about the so-called King of Flowers and the period in which he lived. The Garden and Professor’s Residence (Linnaeus Museum) is open from May through September.

This celebration of the foundation of the independent Czechoslovakian state is a opportunity to visit many sights in the city either free of charge or for advantageous entrance fees, and the firework in the evening is an all time favourite. While a street food festival will introduce tastes from the period of the First Republic, performances take place quite all over the centre, and for people of all ages.
