Moco Museum packs big-name modern and contemporary art into the 1904 Villa Alsberg, a townhouse steps from the Rijksmuseum. Since 2016, its intimate (if somewhat cramped) rooms have showcased Banksy, Basquiat and Kusama alongside rising stars, all sourced from private collections. The permanent Banksy exhibition shares space with rotating shows, while the gift shop peddles cheeky art merch. Expect queues for Yayoi Kusama’s infinity rooms or Warhol’s pop pieces; early mornings or late afternoons ease the squeeze. More accessible than scholarly, it’s ideal for art newcomers or those short on time.

Even though Georgians are not the biggest fans of their Soviet heritage, this great example of Tbilisi 70s brutalism must not be missed. Built on steep slopes in Nutsubidze street, it is one of the quirkiest constructions you will ever see. The three apartment blocks are connected by a bridge that goes through them. From the sky bridge, you can also see a nice view of the residential parts of Tbilisi. Once you are up and walk through the bridge, turn right and take a walk down the winding streets and admire a Caucasian architectural know-how: semi-legal additions to residential blocks of all shapes, sizes and materials.

The Yaquina Bay Bridge, an iconic arch bridge designed by Conde McCullough, features a distinctive blend of Art Deco and Gothic architectural styles. Construction began in 1934, and the bridge, spanning 3,223 feet, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. Admire its unique design and historical significance while enjoying panoramic views of the Yaquina Bay.

Agate Beach is located only one mile north of Newport. The popular destination commonly draws surfers and sun worshipers, and farmers even once lead their cattle through the tunnel for a taste of sea salt!
