Villa Ružić, named after its owner Viktor Ružić, is important firstly for its architecture, but mainly because it stores a wide collection of 10,000 books. The collection includes Ivan Mažuranić’s library and his archive; the manuscript of Gundulić’s epic poem 'Osman' from 1647 — a gift from Petar Petrović Njegoš. Alongside the Memorial library, you'll find a wide collection of photographs, documents and antique furniture. You can only visit with a booking in advance.

Brixton's Electric Avenue got its name for being the first market street in London to be lit with electric lights. Today, the avenue is a diverse and eclectic food market, mostly specialising in African and Caribbean cuisine. Apart from the food, the area attracts bargain hunters in search of cameras, audio equipment, all manner of household goods, hair and beauty products and services, wigs, fishmongers, butchers, bakers, fruit and flower shops — you name it. Brixton Village is a covered arcaded area of the market that brims with quirky shops, fruit and vegetable stands, and a plethora of cafés and restaurants. Brixton Academy is an iconic venue that hosts some of the biggest rock and pop acts in the world. The venue was originally opened as a theatre and cinema called the Astoria, but has since evolved into a concert venue: Madonna, Sex Pistols and The Smiths have all performed here.

The Haus der Kunst is an internationally leading centre for contemporary art featuring an interdisciplinary programme. Every year the gallery presents about ten exhibitions of new talents and established artists. Since 2011, a selection of video art from the Goetz Collection has been shown in several displays in the former air raid shelter. In addition to exhibitions and events, the institution prioritises research, study, and the dissemination of knowledge.
