If souvenirs are what you are looking for, There are many shops closely spaced close to the port where you can buy jewellery, rum, cigars and other gifts. If you want to pick up some last-minute toiletries or snacks, there is a Ram's Super market at walking distance from the port.

As Port Zante is located right in Basseterre's city centre, getting there by ferry or taxi is relatively easy. There are also mini vans called "route taxis" If you are going to Port Zante in a route taxi, look for one that has "Basseterre" written on the front sign. Once you board the minibus, you can tell the driver that you want to go to Port Zante. The minibus will drop you off at the bus terminal in downtown Basseterre, and from there it's just a 10-minute walk to Port Zante. Despite its unassuming exterior, this small Anglican church holds a unique distinction as the sole location outside of England where British monarchs were crowned. Four Indian Miskito tribe kings, who resided along the Mosquito coast, were bestowed with elaborate British ceremonial regalia that rivaled even the grandeur of London's royal ceremonies. This effort by the British was aimed at cultivating friendly relations with the tribe and safeguarding their power, land, and wealth from their Spanish rivals.

The Bastion of Saint Remy was built in classical style, linking the three southern embankments of Santa Caterina, Zecca, and Sperone, to join the Castle district with the lower districts of Villanova and Marina. The terrace at the southern end of the Castello offers a magnificent view over the sea and marshes to the west.
