Founded in 1781, the Orto Botanico di Palermo is considered to be a prestigious open-air botanical museum that has enabled in-depth studies on fascinating plants for about 200 years. Walk down the shaded pathways lined with subtropical plants, fig trees, Mediterranean herb gardens, local cacti, and hibiscus but don't forget to also check out the beautiful historical buildings where this restful paradise is set in.

For a scenic day trip, head to Yushan Island, a beautiful and secluded formation. Altun Ha is situated approximately 31 miles (50 kilometers) north of Belize City and it's home to the famous jade stone carved in the likeness of the Mayan sun god, Kinich Ahau, which graces the national currency. The temple is comprised of two primary clusters: Plaza A and Plaza B, each with its own unique offerings. The enigmatic Temple of the Green Tomb can be found in Plaza A, which boasts an impressive collection of jade, jewelry, and flint artifacts. On the other hand, Plaza B is the site of the grandest structure in Altun Ha, the Temple of Masonry Altar, which towers over 60 feet (18 meters) above the plaza.
