A 20-minute boat ride from Cancún lies the small island of Isla Mujeres with its laid-back Caribbean ambiance, tiny streets lined with stalls, and street cafés in pastel-colored houses. Golf carts and mopeds dominate the streets, and although the island is only 5 miles long and half a mile wide, it still offers plenty of things to do and see. Lastly, a must-visit for nature and wildlife lovers is a tour to Isla Contoy, a nature reserve only inhabited by a few biologists and restricted to 200 visitors per day.

The area of Kihei welcomes visitors with plenty of activities across its flat beaches: bodysurfing and skimboarding are the things to try here. Makena includes the mile-long Big Beach with many excellent snorkeling spots like the Five Grave, and the Little Beach, unofficially considered among the best nudist beaches in the U.S. The Secret Cove just south of Makena is also a popular wedding location.

Aruba's uncharted-tropical-island vibes are at their best in this natural pool right at the oceanfront. Conchi is located in the Arikok National Park, completely uncultivated, and far away from the touristic areas. Plunge into the turquoise water and discover the beautiful tropical fish, while waves crash against high rocks that surround the pool.
