Alcatraz is Sweden's largest multi-arena, spanning an expansive 10,000 square metres and offering a thrilling combination of adventure, fun, and relaxation. The venue houses an array of adrenaline-pumping activities such as paintball, laser games, go-kart racing, and the unique challenge of Prison Island. For those seeking a break from the action, an arcade hall and a virtual reality arcade add to the entertainment options. A decree made by the government of the Dubrovnik Republic in 1546 allowed Jews to settle within the city ramparts. This officially marked the establishment of the Jewish Ghetto on the street called Žudioska. In 1652, one of the houses was turned into a Synagogue, whose interior is in the baroque style. It has been preserved to this day, with minor changes, and is one of the oldest synagogues in Europe. The first floor houses a museum with a number of religious artefacts and archives, Rococo, baroque and Louis XVI furniture and paintings by Italian masters.

Added in early 2002 as the second main pillar of the Kunstsammlung and accommodating contemporary art was the Ständehaus am Kaiserteich, until 1988 the seat of the Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. Four wings with continuous arcades surround the building’s central public area, a spacious plaza. The creative treatment of this representative building in the Historicist style (1876-80) by the Munich architectural office of Kiessler + Partner created a modern museum building with a striking glaze domed roof which shapes the building’s aesthetic and at the same time spans an expansive sculpture garden located on the uppermost level. Together, a flexible hall for temporary exhibitions in the ground floor level and the upper galleries comprise more than 5300 m² of surface area. Installations and artist’s rooms are an important focus of the Kunstsammlung, an area which has been expanded continuously in recent years.

The town of Grand Case has gained the status of St Martin's gourmet capital. A number of world-class restaurants are located in traditional huts and the village is home to the last remaining wattle houses. In January, a Caribbean jazz festival with bands and orchestras takes place.
