Glass artist Carlos R. Pebaque combines classic Swedish style with South American temperament and has created a new technique for art glass: 'Cara' — a method of painting in glass.

Hauges Hantverksglas takes an environmental approach and works primarily on remodelling non-returnable bottles, turning them into utility glassware. Visitors are welcome to the glassworks to watch production and see the exhibition. There is also a large range of first quality and seconds for sale, a gallery with exhibitions by different artists and some cultural events. Don't miss the chance of a course in remodelling glass!

Himmelsberga is Öland's most authentic village, now preserved as an open air museum with enclosed farms built along both sides of the narrow village road. The heart of the museum consists of several large farms with buildings dating back the 18th and 19th century. The cottage is still has the original furniture, and the old stables are packed with all the tools and equipment that were used on the farms. The coffee shop sells freshly baked bread and hot pies, and you can buy genuine Öland handicrafts in the village shop. Himmelsberga holds exhibitions of arts and crafts in its two galleries. There's also an art museum with a collection of older and modern Öland paintings.

North-west of Independence Square is a yellow neo-classical block, which houses the KGB building. On the other side of the street is a park, where you can find a bust of Felix Dzerzhinsky, founder of "Cheka" (the pre-KGB establishment of the Soviet Union).
