The Chinese who settled in Hoi An identified themselves according to their province of origin. Each community built its own assembly hall, known as 'hoi quan' in Vietnamese, for social gatherings, meetings and celebrations. The Fujian Assembly Hall is, perhaps, the best-known one; the Cantonese Assembly Hall stands out for its beauty and contains a tranquil inner courtyard, while the 19th-century Hainan Assembly Hall functions, in part, as a memorial to the 108 merchants from Hainan who met a tragic fate being mistaken for pirates – the entire story is narrated via wall posters.

Founded in 1904, Xiling Seal Art Society was dedicated to the research of traditional Chinese calligraphy and seal carving art. Today, it is also a museum where more than 6000 authentic works of ancient Chinese artists are preserved, a boutique where you can get stone carved seals or calligraphy with your own name on it. Even the well preserved Qing dynasty style architecture of the society alone is a piece of art.

South of Seattle lies the beautiful Mount Saint Helens, a national forest that houses a sleeping volcano. In close cooperation with the visitor center you can buy the necessary passes and permits to go camping and hiking. The Cultural History Museum is located in the Rector’s Palace. A courtroom, dungeon and a scribe’s office are located on the ground floor. A numismatic collection of Dubrovnik coins, seals, weights, and a collection of watches are on the mezzanine level. Beautiful examples of furniture, portraits, uniforms, and an inventory from the Domus Christi pharmacy, as well as various kinds of weapons can also be seen.
