The L.A. installment of this legendary wax figure museum is worth a visit in case you don't have much luck spotting movie stars elsewhere. It is located right next to the TCL Theatre and displays some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Get up close and prepare to strike a pose next to your favorite celebrities.

Moored in San Pedro, the Battleship USS Iowa Museum lets you wander through one of the most magnificent and surprisingly personal pieces of U.S. naval history. Known as the “Battleship of Presidents,” the Iowa once carried FDR across the Atlantic and later served through WWII, Korea, and the Cold War. As you move through the ship’s narrow corridors and out onto the decks, you get a real sense of what life was like for the crew: giant gun turrets towering overhead, cramped bunks stacked in rows, and glimpses of the command centers that once buzzed with activity. Veteran volunteers are often on hand to share stories or point out easy-to-miss details.

Killary Harbour, nestled between counties Mayo and Galway, is one of three glacial fjords that exist in Ireland today. Navigate the rugged and dramatic landscape of Connemara, with its blanket bogs and dazzling beaches, by walking on the so-called Green Road, which runs alongside the fjiord. Alternatively, you can go on a boat tour and enjoy the majestic views. There's a chance you might spot seals and dolphins.
