Constructed on the site of a former mosque from the Islamic city, this church dates back to between 1402 and 1417, according to the oldest documented evidence. Featuring a single nave design and side chapels nestled between buttresses, the original Gothic structure has undergone significant modifications due to restorations and extensions carried out between the 16th and 18th centuries. Notable elements within the church include a Renaissance presbyter, shaped like a triumphal arch, and the chapel dedicated to the Holy Family (1765-1766), which showcases the artistic influence of sculptor Francisco Salzillo. The main entrance of the church, adorned with the shield of the Catholic Monarchs at its peak, is in the Isabelline Gothic style. In contrast, the adjoining communion chapel exhibits a more Baroque aesthetic, featuring an entrance constructed between 1726 and 1735.

Place Pierre Puget is a small square with a fountain covered in greenery—nice for a quick break. From here, take a walk through the Old Town’s main street down to the harbour. It’s an easy stroll with plenty to see along the way.

If you’re looking for an experience you won’t find anywhere else, visit the North Woods area to see lumberjack and stunt dogs performances, and make sure to catch the State Fair Parade at 2pm every day. Popular musical artists visit the Grandstand each year to play to sold-out crowds. Food is also a highlight of the State Fair; past culinary innovations included SPAM sushi, deep fried grilled cheese bites, and a Reuben pickle dog!

Mount Sinai, also known as Jabal Musa, is where, according to Christian tradition, Moses got the Ten Commandments. The mountain stands over 2,200 metres high and can be climbed by two main routes: the Path of Moses, a long stairway with around 4,000 steps, or a slightly easier trail starting east of St Catherine’s Monastery. At the top, you’ll find the small Chapel of the Holy Trinity and views stretching over the Sinai Desert.
