Constructed during a tumultuous period when colonial powers were vying for control of what was then known as British Honduras, St. John's Cathedral was built utilizing slave labor over a duration of eight years. Despite its unassuming exterior, this small Anglican church holds a unique distinction as the sole location outside of England where British monarchs were crowned. Four Indian Miskito tribe kings, who resided along the Mosquito coast, were bestowed with elaborate British ceremonial regalia that rivaled even the grandeur of London's royal ceremonies. This effort by the British was aimed at cultivating friendly relations with the tribe and safeguarding their power, land, and wealth from their Spanish rivals.

At one time or another, you will pass through Bab Bou Jeloud, The Blue Gates, and it is highly recommended to get a guide that shows you around while explaining the gates' history. In this area, you will also find many restaurants to go to for lunch, or for just grabbing a cooling drink.

Whether you believe in the cleansing power of spices and herbs or not, the Berber Pharmacies are an impressive sight, and also quite typical in Morocco: the big jars on sale hold obscure powders and peculiar dried plants, and many of them are believed to cure aches and pains. Get yourself a special blend or just take a picture of the mystical markets, as it is always worth a visit, and a try.

The Museum of Modern Art in Chapultepec park focuses on displaying modern Mexican art, mainly from the decade of 1930 onwards. The vast collection is presented through temporary exhibitions, usually three or four at a time. MAM is without a doubt the best place to see the widest possible variety of modern Mexican art within a short span of time. Frida Kahlo fans will always find a few of her works on display. Apart from the exhibitions in the main building, you'll find a large garden with numerous sculptures and a cozy cafe to keep your energy levels up.
