Athletic events such as Regattas, cycling races, the Cyprus Rally, the international Open Marathon, beach volley tournaments and sporting events with competitions in boxing, karate, triathlon, marathon, shooting, rhythmic gymnastics and cycling are just a few of the annual athletic events that take place in every corner of Cyprus.

When you want to escape from the busy city streets and enjoy some natural beauty of Lombardy, consider hopping on the scenic Bernina Express train. Stroll along Lake Como, make a stop in the historic lakeshore village of Varenna and ascend the Alps on the UNESCO-listed train — it'll make a stop on top so you can take short walk enjoying summit views. The train journey itself takes about 4 hours start to finish and runs through 55 tunnels, 196 bridges and viaducts.

On the west bank of the Chao Phraya River sits one of Thailand's most distinctive landmarks, the Buddhist temple Wat Arun. The temple gets its name from the Hindu god Aruna, often personified as the radiations of the rising sun, hence its common name The Temple of Dawn. Its five spires or prangs are covered in porcelain mosaics and seashells giving Wat Arun a gleaming iridescence when the rising sun illuminates it at dawn. Linger in the mythical gardens, climb the steep white stairs, and soak up the romantic views at sunset.

As you stroll through Mahabandoola Garden you can take in all the beautiful sights of the city on the way. The City Hall, the High Court, the Independence Monument Obelisk, and the Rowe & Co department store are located in the area. Don't forget to bring your camera, the park is a great backdrop for holiday pictures.
