Constructed by the Balbi family in the 17th century, the Palazzo Reale (also known as Palazzo Stefano Balbi) was originally a sprawling aristocratic residence for three of the most powerful families in the city: the Balbis, Durazzos, and Savoys. Today, it serves as a museum and boasts an extensive collection of historical furniture, paintings, and sculptures. Visitors can also explore the impressive garden, which is teeming with lush vegetation and exotic flora.

This upland inside the Old City hosts places of worship for Jews (who call it Temple Mount, "Har HaBáyit") and Muslims (for whom the place is named Noble Sanctuary, "Haram esh-Sharif"). It was also the scene of events narrated in the Gospels, and its intense atmosphere can captivate everyone. Along with the Western Wall, the Dome of the Rock, and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, here you will find the smaller Dome of the Chain and four Minarets. The Sanctuary is enclosed in walls built by Herod the Great 2,000 years ago. Of the eleven gates, only one is open to non-Muslim visitors: the Mughrabi Gate, which is guarded by a security check. It's important to dress modestly when visiting the Temple Mount / Noble Sanctuary. Visitors should cover their legs and shoulders and bring a cap.

Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine played a pivotal role during the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812, inspiring Francis Scott Key to pen the words to "The Star-Spangled Banner" as he witnessed the fort’s defense. Today, visitors can explore the historic 18th-century fort, view exhibits about the battle and the anthem's creation, and watch the iconic flag fly above the site.
