A more traditional, if a bit bohemian, part of town, San Telmo's cobblestone streets and colonial style houses are all about antique-hunting, people-watching and tango. The streets are lined with top-notch steakhouses and quaint shops where you can get lost for hours. Be sure to check out the Sunday market for great deals on some unique antiques.

Pemba is a small gem of the Zanzibari archipelago north of the main island, with incredible marine life and small farming villages. Lands are rich in cloves, coconut, and cassava, and tides allow for some great diving here. At times, the tides are so low they make the island inaccessible by dhows — the vessels used by locals.

The vast park surrounding the summer residence of the last Polish king, Stanisław August Poniatowski, is where Varsovians like to go for longer walks. The park is home to a winter garden, an amphitheatre, and even a Chinese garden. The biggest attraction, however, are the park’s permanent residents: the squirrels and peacocks. Another site worth seeing is the classicist Palace on the isle, with its enchanting interior design and gallery of paintings. The park is famous for its Chopin concerts, which take place from mid-May to the end of September every Sunday at noon and 4 pm. Come lounge on the grass and enjoy the music.

Festa di Santa Rosalia is a grand annual festival that takes place in July. The festival, which lasts six days, is dedicated to Saint Rosalia, also called La Santuzza (Little Saint) or Rusulia (in Sicilian dialect), Palermo's patron saint, and it commemorates the miraculous appearances of the saint in 1624 when the city was hit by the plague. This festival is full of dazzling fireworks, religious processions, live music, and sumptuous Sicilian delicacies.
