The Saadian Tombs stand as an opulent tribute to the Saadian dynasty. Originating from the 16th century, the site was envisioned by Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur as a monumental homage to his lineage. Found within the aged Kasbah Mosque, the tombs are divided into multiple sections, each boasting a collection of chambers festooned with ornate stucco work and vibrant tiling. The architectural flair of the Saadian Tombs is nothing short of mesmerising. From ceilings embellished with kaleidoscopic tiles to walls etched with intricate Islamic motifs, every element contributes to the site's majestic ambiance. Domed chambers further add to the grandiosity, featuring complex geometric and arabesque patterns.

Enjoy some absolutely staggering vistas from the viewpoints of Cannon Fort, a military construction built by the Japanese during WWII amongst the thick tropical vegetation of the green hills of Cát Bà island. Explore the tunnels and the historic gun emplacement used by Japanese, French, and Vietnamese soldiers throughout the past century. There is even a small museum, a café and mannequin gunmen loading and firing the weaponry.

The Red Lodge Museum is located in an impressive building from the 16th century with Bristol’s only surviving Elizabethan domestic oak panelling. You can experience a few of the oldest rooms in Bristol and Knot Garden, a great garden in Tudor style.

St Kevin’s monastic settlement in Glendalough was a veritable city in its time, with a 30-metre round tower, a gateway building, several churches, a cathedral, a farm, houses and a sizeable lay population contributing to 500 years spent as one of Ireland’s great ecclesiastical centres. The cave isn’t safe to access, but you can catch a good photo opportunity above the Upper Lake from the Miner’s Road.
